Person-centred care

Our ethos of person-centred care underpins a sense of comfort and emotional security; staff know how to interpret behaviours as feelings and families, friends and visitors experience a sense of involvement and belonging. Our focus is on enhancing well-being and trying to understand the reality that each individual is living, creating opportunities for significant occupation and activity.

The mental and physical health of people is paramount and this is robustly addressed through access to clinic visits with the designated general practitioner, community mental health team, chiropodist, optician and domiciliary dentist. Residents are afforded the right care, at the right place and at the right time to enhance their wellbeing.

Our outstanding team offer all residents genuine care and attention in a respectful, dignified manner.

Staff and residents

Affectionate, compassionate staff demonstrate their knowledge of people’s life history, fuelling reminiscence, enabling them to talk with ease about family members in the resident’s reality. Uniforms are not worn, to eliminate barriers and promote friendship with the residents in this ‘feelings based’ home; night staff don pyjamas to orientate the residents should they experience wakeful nights. Additionally, we enjoy our meals together and staff can often be seen ‘just being’ with the residents, enjoying their company and celebrating emotional memory.
